This course provides an introduction to designing and developing programs with a focus on an event driven paradigm, specifically: Finite State Automata and their behaviour and implementation. The course correspondence with regular expressions, examples of embedded systems, introduction to interconnected state machines, Petri Nets, and concurrency, concepts of state-space and relationship to testing, push-down automata and applications to parsing. The course also covers building Graphical User Interfaces: model view controller paradigm and building GUIs using modern APIs. Other topics include ease of use and human-computer interaction issues. |
