Syllabus:

An introduction to hydraulic engineering and fluid mechanics. Description and properties of fluids: hydro-statics; buoyancy and stability; laws of inviscid flow; continuity, energy and momentum equations; dimensional analysis and model theory; steady uniform and non-uniform flow of liquids and gases in closed conduits; flow of real fluids; friction in open and closed conduits, Moody diagram; laminar flow; types of turbulent flow; viscous sub-layer; flow measurement in pipes and open channels; steady uniform flow in open channels, hydraulic jumps. Uniform and non-uniform flow in open channels, super and sub-critical flows.
