Syllabus:

This course will provide students with an understanding of reproductive biology in animals. The physiological basis for reproduction in animals, including livestock, companion and wildlife species will be studied. Topics covered will include comparative structure and function of male and female reproductive systems; endocrine, neuroendocrine and environmental control of reproduction; development of the gametes, embryo, foetus and placenta; and pregnancy and parturition. How the understanding of reproductive physiology informs the management of reproduction and fertility in animals and provides the basis for reproductive technologies including artificial insemination and embryo transfer will be considered.
