The sensation and illusion of 'motion' is central to the way we experience a myriad of media, from interface design on websites and apps, to digital games, immersive media, film and animation. In this course, students will engage with international and historical contexts for the design of motion and movement within media studies and aligned disciplines. Critical analysis, comparison, and reflection on theory and practice will enable students to develop their skills in talking and writing about motion and design, as well as apply this learning to their own creative practice. For students in media production majors (Visual Design, Story Production and Immersive Media), this course will provide the theoretical and conceptual grounding for their advanced production courses, while students in other programs will be able to engage critically with a range of approaches to studying and analysing design. |
